As an impact organization, the DuBois Area United Way identifies the most critical health, education, and income needs of our residents and creates innovative solutions that lead to a stronger and more resilient community. We are an autonomous, local, non-profit organization working to create lasting changes in people’s lives and local communities.
The DuBois Area United Way got its start back in 1956 when a group of concerned citizens and community leaders proposed a campaign to help area health & welfare agencies with their funding. After much convincing, the DuBois Area United Fund was created. The United Fund’s symbol was a red feather. This feather was to mean a lot to a small community over the next several years; the more feathers distributed meant there were more people being helped by the fund. These members and their vision established and lived by the purpose of the United Way. They came together to lay the groundwork for the first United Fund Board of Directors. Paul G. Reitz was elected the first president of the Board. The name was eventually changed to the DuBois Area United Way and established a permanent location at 223 South Jared Street in DuBois, PA.
Since its inception the DuBois Area United Way –formerly DuBois Area United Fund- has raised nearly $20 Million dollars. Annually, through the partnership with their member agencies they impact upwards of 20,000 individuals/families in their local communities. We currently serve Clearfield, Elk, & Jefferson Counties.
We Facilitate Safe Learning Spaces
We envision an inclusive, impactful, and collaborative network of United Way agencies working with business, community, faith, and government leaders throughout the Commonwealth to advance equitable access to health, education, and financial stability for all Pennsylvanians.
