IMPACT STORIES

Mengle Memorial Library

The Mengle Memorial Library is a member of the DuBois United Way.  Your donation to the DuBois United Way helps all their member agencies like our library to serve residents in our local area.  We appreciate the DuBois United Way’s support.  Our library is self-sufficient and coordinates services for the Brockway School District.  The library serves people in Jefferson County as we are designated the Jefferson County Library System Headquarters and we ensure all county residents are served in cooperation with five other libraries.  Our library board is a team of dedicated volunteers.  The library serves all ages and kids always have a good time coming to our library.  We are providing opportunities that inform, transform and enrich lives. – Darlene Marshall, Administrator

DuBois Chamber of Commerce

For years, the DuBois Area United Way has helped numerous local charitable organizations in our community.  Without these monetary contributions, many of these organizations would not be able to provide the services that they do.  The DuBois Area United Way Staff and Board of Directors do a great job of running an annual campaign to help these charities.  We are fortunate to have these professionals in our community do good work! – Jodi August, Director Greater DuBois Chamber of Commerce

Children’s Aid Society

Children’s Aid Society uses the money received from DuBois Area United Way to help us carry out our Youth Mentoring program, which has no permanent source of funding. There are two ways children from the DuBois area are served by Youth Mentoring including our School-Based program, which matches high school mentors with mentees in a fun, after-school program at Wasson Elementary, and our Community-Based program that matches children in need with adult mentors.  Participants are never charged fees. This money helps us provide volunteer screening, training, orientation, activities, and supervision. DuBois Area United Way has been supporting our Youth Mentoring program for decades and we appreciate and depend on that continued support!  – Bonnie Floro

The DuBois Senior and Community Center

The DuBois Senior and Community Center serves as a gateway to the DuBois area aging network. The objective of our Center is to make sure our seniors are actively living, not passively aging. This is accomplished with the help of our DuBois Area United Way. – Kathleen Clement, Parkside Senior Community Center
